Registration FAQs

The following contains some tips for the registration process, and help set up your profile.

The fields on the registration form apply mainly to photographers who wish to be included in the directory listings. If you are just starting out and wish to join the discussion forums, but have not yet shot a birth, you are still welcome to join.

How much does it cost to join?

Members will be charged $50 per year for listings/forum access. This will be invoiced to you via PayPal and must be paid to maintain your access.

Can I still join if I haven’t shot a birth yet?

Yes! You may sign up and access the forums, where there are plenty of experienced members to network with and ask questions of. In order to have a directory listing, however, you must have at least one birth publicly viewable on your website. This is for the benefit of your potential clients.

What are all the registration fields for?

Please see below for details:


Your username must be at least 4 characters. This will not be used on the website, so you can select a personal name or business-related username.

Business Name & ABN

Your profile will be listed under your business name. Your ABN is required only to verify that you are an Australian business owner, and will not be displayed to potential clients viewing the website.


This is to assist website administrators in matching members to the appropriate state listing pages. Making a selection here does not add you to the state group – you will need to do this after logging in for the first time. Please join the state group where the majority of your work takes place. Some photographers may wish to be listed in more that one state group – this will be negotiated with group administrators.

Business Website

A link to your website will be included on your profile page. We recommend you link to the homepage or birth section of your website.

Example of Birth Photography

This link is to be provided by members seeking to be listed in a state directory. It will assist the group administrators with verifying your experience. We do not need to see lots of birth stories on your website – just one so we know potential clients can see your birth photography work.

About Me

This will form the main body of your profile listing. Please think about the content you wish to include, to entice potential clients to your website. You can include HTML links if you wish to link to other locations also. We will soon be adding social media links but this is not yet available.

How do I add a profile picture?

Once you are logged in, you can edit your profile and add an avatar (profile picture). Click the Edit My Profile link by hovering over your username in the top right corner of the screen.

Follow the prompts to upload and crop your image. It will be cropped to a circle, so please consider this when choosing your profile image. We recommend a good quality headshot of yourself, or one of your birth client photographs.

How do I join a group?

After completing your profile, click the Find a Photographer link in the top menu, and then Join Group on the right side of the page, next to the state you’d like to be listed under.

How do I access the forums?

You must be logged in to see the forums. The general public and your potential clients will not be able to see the forum content.
